Words matter. They really do. Parents know this all too well. As babies get bigger we do our best to explain things thoughtfully and as objectively as we can. The way we use our words with our own children helps form the basis for the way that they will use their words with us, with their friends, and with their every encounter for the rest of their lives. So when it was brought to our attention that the term "Mei Tai" was incorrect, and that the term as it was being used could have damaging cultural effects, we took it to immediate consideration:
Please note that all MOBY® and BabyHawk® carriers previously referred to as "Mei Tai" will be recognized by the more apt Cantonese term, "Meh Dai". For a more thorough explanation of these terms and their cultural origins, please visit notyourpodbutai.tumblr.com.
* There will still be some products in stores that still reflect the previous term "Mei Tai". It is the same product as the current "Meh Dai" before the name change took effect.
