MEH DAI

Practice age-appropriate baby wearing!  This position is intended for children with good trunk and neck control, which usually occurs around 6 months of age.

Step 1a:   The carrier should look like an apron hanging down on your legs, and it should hang to your knees (approx).

Step 1b:   Tie the shorter straps around your waist in a secure double knot.

Step 2:  Position your baby so that he or she can wrap his or her legs around your waist.

Step 3:  Use one hand to support your baby and the other to walk the body of your Mei Tai up the baby, starting at the bum, all the way to the neck.

Step 4:  While holding baby with one hand toss the straps over your shoulders and position your baby deep into the carrier. The headrest should support his or her head.

Step 5:  Use one hand to support your baby and the other to grab both of the top straps that are now over your shoulders and hanging down your back.

Step 6:  Cross the straps behind your back, pulling tightly enough to support your baby. Work the slack out of each strap individually by pulling down on strap individually.

Step 7a:  Bring the straps around to the front of your body.

Step 7b:  Cross and tie them with a secure double knot behind you. Push up on baby’s legs to create a deep seat.
